Fans of the Bundesliga club from the north must prepare themselves for major changes to Werder Bremen’s ticket sales. The fixture list for the 2024/25 Bundesliga season was announced a few weeks ago and the northern club released tickets for the first four home matches for sale. Tickets for SV Werder’s games against Borussia Dortmund, record champions FC Bayern Munich, SC Freiburg and the match against reigning champions Leverkusen are already on sale. However, if you want to buy a standing room ticket, you will have to reckon with changes.
New restrictions on standing room tickets for Werder Bremen
The Green-Whites are limiting the sale of standing-room tickets to two tickets per person in the coming season. This change will allow SV Werder to give more fans access to the popular standing areas in the east curve. However, this is not the only change that Bundesliga club Werder Bremen has in store for its fans. Spectators will only be able to purchase a total of four tickets. How the fans use the quota of four tickets is up to them, as long as the number of two standing tickets is not exceeded.
The combination can therefore consist of two standing places and two seats, three seats and one standing place or even four seats. Fans must also be prepared for the fact that they can no longer specify a second choice for standing tickets. The option of specifying an alternative choice of seat when ordering will therefore no longer be available for standing tickets. When ordering tickets for seats, the second choice is still possible. The club did not give any reasons for this change.
Price increases for Werder Bremen season tickets
One change that will particularly annoy season ticket fans is the increase in prices. On average, fans who want to own such a ticket will have to pay nine to 13 per cent more than in the previous season. The price increase affects all parts of the Weser Stadium and also the discounted tickets. A season ticket in the standing area in the east curve will cost 222 euros this season, while those who receive a discount will still pay 146 euros.
Last year, tickets in this category cost €202, or €129 after a discount. Fans in the stadium’s West Stand will also have to dig deeper into their pockets. In the lower tier, i.e. from row one to row nine, season tickets now cost €360 instead of the €320 of the last two seasons. In the upper tier of the East Curve and in the lower tiers of the South Curve and Gegengerade, the cost is now €485 instead of €429.
Those wishing to watch the match from the centre (rows one to nine) and side lower tiers (rows ten to 29) as well as from the upper tiers of the north and south pay €615 instead of €559. The most expensive category is the centre lower tier and the upper tier on both sides of the arena. In these areas, the cost has risen from 755 to 825 euros.
Bremen’s season ticket: waiting list and advance booking right
The last price increase was implemented by the club in the 2022/23 season, when the increase was around five per cent. The club provides a contingent of 27,000 season tickets. Normally, up to 10,000 fans are on a waiting list each year and often wait in vain for a ticket. In most cases, season ticket holders make use of their pre-sale right and secure a ticket for the coming seasons to cheer on their favourite club.
Those who don’t get a season ticket often fall back on the day ticket. It is not for nothing that the Weserstadion is usually sold out.
