The UEFA Europa Conference League will be held for the third time in the 2023/24 season. In the meantime, it has become clear that this European competition, behind the Europa League and Champions League, also has a lot to offer. If you take a look at the field of participants in the group stage after the qualifying rounds, you will indeed recognise some well-known teams.
OSC Lille, Club Brugge, Fenerbahce Istanbul and AC Florence are just a few examples. Meanwhile, renowned clubs such as FC Basel have even been eliminated early. From a German perspective, Eintracht Frankfurt is of course one of the favourites for the title. However, the competition promises to be exciting, not least due to the relegation from the Europa League after the group stage.

How exactly interested parties obtain tickets for Conference League matches varies from team to team. For smaller clubs, the rush may be lower – but so are the available allotments. It is more difficult for German teams, however, as demand is naturally higher and free sales in the ticket shop are limited.
At Eintracht Frankfurt, for example, season ticket holders were able to extend their season ticket to the three home games in the Conference League group stage before the start of the competition. Club members were then able to apply for seats that were not taken. There is no free sale of season tickets to non-members.
The remaining contingent is therefore available as day tickets. Only members can initially apply for these before each home match. Experience has shown that all seats in the Frankfurt stadium are ultimately always taken, meaning that there is no longer any official free sale of day tickets.
For those without membership status, however, there is still the secondary market. Both for Eintracht Frankfurt matches and for many other top-class games, there are always offers on ticket exchanges, although demand can sometimes be so high that tickets are quickly sold out again.
Even in the qualifying phase and also in the group stage, the UEFA Conference League features numerous exciting clashes with internationally renowned teams. From a German perspective, it is particularly worth looking at the neighbouring countries. For example, tickets are available for Viktoria Pilsen (Czech Republic), Club Brugge (Belgium) and Legia Warsaw (Poland). Less well-known teams such as FC Nordsjaelland (Denmark) also offer an exotic flair.
Attractive matches can therefore be reached relatively quickly and cheaply, while tickets are also comparatively inexpensive. Fans can enjoy international flair just as much as in the Europa League or Champions League.
Of course, buying tickets is all the more worthwhile after the group stage and on the way to the Conference League final. There is an exciting play-off round first: all second-placed teams have to fight against third-placed teams from the Europa League groups to reach the round of 16.
The ticket prices are as varied as the field of participants in the competition. In some cases, a ticket can even cost less than any Bundesliga match, meaning that seats are available for less than €20. Of course, this does not apply to the German teams.
At Eintracht Frankfurt, for example, there are basically four ticket categories:
These prices apply to official sales for home matches in the group stage. From the matches in the knockout phase onwards, however, successively higher ticket prices are to be expected.
Apart from this, UEFA has set a price cap for away tickets. This means that away tickets for all clubs will cost a maximum of €25, meaning that there may be particularly favourable options for a visit to the stadium.
In most cases, the pre-sales for the individual matches start around two to three weeks before the respective match date. As mentioned, these are often initially sales phases for club members. At Eintracht Frankfurt, for example, any free sale of remaining tickets would begin one week before a match.
The situation is different with ticket portals such as Viagogo or StubHub. Here, offers for tickets can theoretically arise directly at the start of the very first pre-sale. It is also possible that ticket holders may want or need to sell their tickets quickly within a week before a match. It is therefore worth checking the ticket exchanges regularly.
It is important to mention that the purchase of tickets on the secondary market is absolutely legal. Purchased tickets are therefore valid as long as they are genuine tickets. The following applies to buyers:
Incidentally, football tickets are also frequently advertised on eBay, in classified ads or on social media. Experience has shown that there is a much higher risk for buyers than with official ticket shops or ticket exchanges.
The personalisation of tickets is now common practice in professional football. This applies in particular to the Bundesliga and European competitions. For example, Eintracht Frankfurt Conference League tickets are also personalised. However, it is possible to transfer the personal data, i.e. forward the ticket, via the app without any problems.
This option is always available in the event that an original ticket holder is unable to attend a match due to illness and would therefore like to give a ticket to friends or family.
Apart from this, it should of course be noted that even mismatched personal details on a ticket practically never lead to problems when visiting the stadium. The reason for this is that thousands of spectators stream through the gates on a match day and it is virtually impossible to check all tickets and persons.
The UEFA Europa Conference League is a European football competition that was held for the first time in the 2021/2022 season. It is the third European club competition after the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League.
The Conference League comprises a group stage followed by knockout rounds, similar to other European competitions.
Teams qualify through their performance in their national leagues or cup competitions. Some teams drop out of the Europa League and compete in the Conference League.
The introduction of the Conference League offers smaller football nations and their clubs an additional opportunity to gain international experience and participate in European competitions.
The first season of the Conference League was won by Rennes, a French football club.
Similar to other UEFA competitions, the venue for the Conference League final is determined by a selection process and changes from year to year.
