Since the 2013/2014 season, Süper Lig tickets have to be purchased via the service provider Passolig. This is a credit company that also issues debit cards – the Passolig card. This card is required in physical form or linked to the Passolig app in order to enter a stadium in the first or second Turkish league.
Anyone wishing to attend a Süper Lig match must register with Passo and order a Passolig credit card. This can either be sent to your home or to a selected stadium in Turkey and collected there. To register on the Passo website, a passport and a mobile phone number are required, while a fee of around 5 euros is also payable. (When collecting the card at a stadium, the passport must then be presented accordingly). The Passolig card is also issued to a specific, selected club, so to speak. This can sometimes be decisive when purchasing tickets – more on this below.
Once registration has been completed, the Passo account is directly linked to the Passolig card and the Passo app can also be used as a virtual Passolig card. From this point onwards, tickets for Galatasaray, Besiktas and the other Süper Lig teams can now be purchased and linked to your Passo account or Passolig card. Printed tickets and other forms are not available, so the Passo app or Passolig card is required to access the stadium.
Ticket prices for the Trendyol Süper Lig vary greatly. Home match tickets for the smaller and internationally less well-known clubs, such as Samsunspor, Ankaragücü or Trabzonspor, are mostly available for mid double-digit amounts. The situation is different for the three capital city clubs.
At Galatasaray, Besiktas and Fenerbahce, most seats in the stadium cost three-figure sums. Only the few outermost areas with small allotments cost less than 100 euros. Good seats close to the pitch, on the other hand, cost over 100 and up to 300 euros per person.
As mentioned, the cheapest Süper Lig tickets are generally available for matches involving the smaller clubs from the lower table regions, especially if none of the three big clubs are the visiting team. If, on the other hand, you really want to attend a match of Gala, Fener and Co., you may find the cheapest option in the guest area.
But beware: in most cases, guest tickets also require the matching Passolig card. This means, for example, that if you hold a Galatasaray Passolig card and want to enter the guest block at a Galatasaray home match, you may have to apply for another Passolig card and select the visiting club. For this reason, many fans in Turkey have several Passolig cards.
When football tickets are available in the Turkish league varies greatly from club to club. Tickets for the three big teams usually only go on sale on the Thursday before the match day. That is, if there are any left at all. This is because the tickets are already sold to club members beforehand, meaning that there are usually no remaining tickets.
As the smaller clubs have smaller capacities and allotments due to the size of their stadiums, they can also quickly run out of tickets. However, it must be said that the secondary market is a sensible option in all cases. If tickets are no longer available in the official free sale, there are always a few offers on Viagogo, StubHub and similar platforms from people who are reselling the tickets they have already bought.
In fact, fans on the internet often prefer the secondary market to buying tickets officially, i.e. via Passolig. The reason for this is that officially available tickets are sometimes only available one day before the match day and many interested parties then have problems with ticketing via Passolig so that their ticket is not linked to their Passo account in time for the match.
If you buy tickets via the secondary market, you can secure your ticket well in advance and then link it to your Passolig card in good time. Very important: Ebay and classified adverts are also part of the secondary market and there are many offers for football tickets there. However, it is not advisable to buy via these platforms due to a number of aspects:
Personalised football tickets have become standard in many European leagues and are also common in international football. The ticket system with Passolig in Turkey can also be seen as personalised tickets, as each Passolig card is personal and a photo of the holder must even be uploaded when the Passo account is created.
When entering the stadium, visitors must show their Passolig card or their data via the app. The stadium staff will also want to see the photo of the respective account holder and compare it with the actual visitor on site. It should therefore always be ensured that you actually have your own Passolig card for your visit to the stadium and that you use this for your ticket to the match.
