UEFA EURO 2024 will be the highlight of the year for countless football fans. After all, it has been 36 years since Germany last hosted a European Football Championship in 1988. Under Julian Nagelsmann, the German national team is back in improved form and so it is hardly surprising that the rush for tickets for the German stadiums is huge.

The first sales phase has already begun, even before the group stage of the European Championship is drawn in December. While the opening match of the European Championships will take place in Munich’s Allianz Arena, the final on 14 July 2024 will of course be held in the Olympiastadion Berlin. Tickets have already been allocated for this as well. Anyone who wants to get hold of a European Championship final ticket during the future official sales phases or in other ways should therefore know exactly what options are available.

Current tickets for the EURO 2024 final

Unfortunately there are currently no tickets available.

How to get tickets for the Euro 2024 final?

As mentioned, the first pre-sale of European Championship tickets has already taken place, with final tickets also being sold. There was an application phase in advance, after which interested parties selected by lot could then buy the respective tickets. As the exact match schedule has not yet been finalised, the applications related to the individual venues and match dates, without knowing which pairing would ultimately take place.

However, the Olympic Stadium in Berlin and the final date could be selected from all stadiums, which was certainly the case for many of the more than 20 million enquiries. This will also be the case for the upcoming bidding phase, which will again be organised via the official European Championship website (https://www.uefa.com/euro2024/).

Incidentally, it is important to know that you can apply for a maximum of 4 tickets in one ticket category and a maximum of one match per day. Anyone who submits several applications and is actually allocated several tickets must pay for each ticket. Otherwise, all allocations expire at once.

How many tickets are available for the European Championship final?

Just over one million tickets have already been allocated in the first phase of ticket sales. However, the exact allotments for the individual matches are not available. It is therefore not possible to say how many final tickets are still officially available. After all, the Olympic Stadium is the venue with the most seats of all the stadiums.

A total of 74,000 seats are available for spectators, whereby these seats are divided into different categories at different prices. The official EURO 2024 website indicates the demand for the respective categories during the bidding phase. Logically, the cheaper the tickets, the higher the demand.

How much do tickets for the European Championship final cost?

While European Championship tickets for the group stage matches are still the cheapest, the final as the highlight of the tournament naturally also offers the highest price level. As for all matches, there are a total of four price categories:

  • Category 4 “Fans First” – directly behind the gates in the lower tier – 95 euros
  • Category 3 – the curves behind the gates in the upper tier – 300 euros
  • Category 2 – in the outer and rear areas of the main and opposite stands – 600 euros
  • Category 1 – in the middle and lower sections of the main and opposite stands – 1000 euros

By comparison, a ticket in price category 3 costs €85 for the round of 16, €100 for the quarter-finals and €195 for the semi-finals. As already mentioned, there is the greatest demand for category 4 tickets, which, as so-called “Fans First” tickets, should represent a comparatively favourable offer for all matches. However, this is also by far the smallest ticket contingent in all stadiums, which means that the chances of getting these tickets when applying are all the lower.

When will tickets for the European Championship final go on sale?

Ticket sales for the second phase will take place in December 2023, after the draw for the match schedule, and will then put around one million tickets back into circulation. Further application and sales phases will then take place for around 500,000 tickets in March 2024 (after the play-offs for the final European Championship qualifiers) and as a last-minute sale shortly before the tournament. There may even be sales during the tournament if tickets go on the official re-sale.

Whether tickets for the European Championship final will still be available until the end is questionable. In any case, there is still the possibility of unofficial re-sales, i.e. the secondary market, during all this time. There will certainly be plenty of tickets available on ticket exchanges such as Viagogo and tickets for the final in particular will be in high demand. So anyone who has missed out on all the bids and draws (which is very likely with millions of applicants) may find their last chance to buy a ticket for the 2024 European Championship final in Berlin on the secondary market.

Secondary market: European Championship final tickets on ticket exchanges

As applicants are forced to pay for all the tickets allocated to them in the event of multiple allocations, even if they had only hoped for one, there are often resales. However, UEFA itself does not currently offer a platform for this, meaning that ticket holders are already frequently using ticket portals such as Viagogo to sell their tickets. In addition, during the course of the tournament, there will also be advertisements from people who are ultimately unable to attend a match for various reasons.

It is therefore worth keeping an eye on the secondary market throughout the final round to perhaps even get hold of a ticket for the European Championship final. Buyers should be aware of the most important aspects of the secondary market:

  • Official ticket exchanges offer a regulated transaction process and are absolutely legal for buyers, while eBay, classified ads or social media are increasingly being used for fraud.
  • In particular, prospective customers should reject bank transfers as a payment method, while PayPal and similar options offer more security.
  • As all European Championship tickets are issued digitally, there is no need to collect or send tickets.
  • Tickets for the EURO 2024 final are personalised and must be re-personalised by the ticket holder if they are passed on to another person. UEFA provides an official ticket app for this purpose.

A final important point is the ticket price. Experience has shown that ticket prices on secondary market ticket portals are generally higher than those for official ticket purchases. Particularly for final tickets, interested parties have to pay significantly higher prices. This is due to the enormous demand for these tickets, while overall there is only a very limited supply on the secondary market.

VIP tickets for the 2024 European Championship final

Whether you buy tickets in advance from UEFA or the DFB or during the final round via ticket exchanges – tickets for the European Championship final in the Olympic Stadium will be hard to come by at a favourable price. Those who are really not afraid to spend money will have the chance to experience the final in a unique way with VIP tickets.

UEFA is making various hospitality packages, i.e. VIP tickets, available for EURO 2024. These include “Venue Series” packages, which include VIP tickets for all matches in a stadium, or the “Final Series” package with VIP tickets for the two semi-finals and the European Championship final. However, the price for such VIP packages starts at more than 10,000 euros per person.

However, there are still individual VIP tickets available for the final only, which have not yet gone on sale. It is not yet possible to say how much these tickets will cost. Just this much: VIP tickets for the semi-final matches are available from 2,900 euros per person. It is possible that there will be a lottery procedure if there is a small contingent and demand is high.

Stadium information for the European Championship final

Anyone who has actually made it and has been able to buy a ticket for the final by whatever means can definitely count themselves among a select group of football fans and look forward to an unforgettable experience. To ensure that there are no problems, it is best to obtain the necessary information about travelling to the stadium and the stadium visit itself.

UEFA and the DFB will certainly provide all the necessary information on their websites. In any case, ticket holders should be prepared for an enormous volume of traffic on the day of the final and should therefore use public transport. Fittingly, the European Championship final ticket can also be used as a ticket for the entire Berlin public transport network on match day. It is therefore also a good idea for car drivers to use a secure and possibly free car park far away from the stadium and switch to bus or train to the Olympic Stadium.

It is also important to check in advance to what extent cameras and food are permitted. Usually, standard cameras and digital cameras are not a problem and small food rations or drink packs are usually permitted. However, backpacks will probably be prohibited, while small handbags or fanny packs for everyday items may be carried. Incidentally, you can pay in the stadium in cash, by card or contactless.
