The 3. Bundesliga is the third-highest division in the German football league system. It normally consists of 20 teams that compete against each other in a first and second round. Each team therefore plays a total of 38 games per season. The two best-placed teams are promoted directly to the 2nd Bundesliga, while the third-placed team takes part in the promotion play-offs to determine the third promoted team. The four teams in last place are relegated to the regional leagues.
Here you can find the 20 teams competing in the current 3. Bundesliga season 2024/2025. Select your club to get comprehensive ticket details such as advance booking offices, travel information, stadium information, ticket prices and more.

The 3rd Bundesliga is home to various clubs from all over Germany. The participating teams can vary from season to season, as promotions and relegations take place between the 3rd division and the regional leagues. Some well-known teams in the 3rd division include 1. FC Magdeburg, FC Ingolstadt 04, TSV 1860 München and MSV Duisburg.
Spectator numbers in the 3rd division vary depending on the club and match, but are generally lower than in the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga. However, the stadiums are often well attended, especially for derbies or matches with traditionally strong fanbases.
The 3. Bundesliga often serves as a springboard for young talent and an opportunity for players to develop further. Many players use the 3rd division to gain match practice at a professional level and recommend themselves for higher leagues.
The league is known for its intense competition. Due to the fight for promotion and against relegation, the matches are often hard-fought and exciting. The league offers a mix of established clubs fighting for promotion and ambitious teams from the regional leagues aiming for promotion.
