It was truly remarkable that so many HSV tickets have been sold in recent years. After all, you have to remember that this club, which has never been relegated since the Bundesliga was founded, is going through a really bad phase. It was easy to understand why HSV tickets were in demand when Hamburg were in their glory years.

There is no question that this was a long time ago, namely in the 1980s. Back then, Hamburg were on a par with FC Bayern Munich. It was a time when they even won the European Cup. The fans still dream of that time. And unfortunately, so do many of the club’s managers. It is made out to be bigger than it is, it seems, and that is the reason for many mistakes.
It was also understandable that cheap HSV tickets were bought a lot and with pleasure when the top of the Bundesliga was at least within reach in the middle of the last decade. It was a time when qualification for European competitions was achieved several times, when the club even reached the semi-finals of the DFB Cup and the UEFA Cup. There were defeats against eternal rivals Werder Bremen at the time, meaning that HSV was eliminated on each occasion. But then unbelievable mistakes were made. There is no need to list all the mistakes of the past at this point, but we must not conceal the fact that two years in a row, the Bundesliga was only retained with an incredible amount of luck.
Hamburger SV in the process of self-discovery
Two years ago, Hamburger SV only managed to stay in the Bundesliga after being relegated without a single win. New people came in, a lot of money was invested and nothing got better. Once again we went into the relegation play-off, once again there was no victory in these two important games, this time the referee helped in stoppage time of the last game in the relegation play-off against Karlsruher SC. There was a free kick that wasn’t a free kick and it went into the goal. So the team can’t be praised, nor can the officials, but the fans can. They buy HSV tickets cheaply, they supported and continue to support their club in the new season and they were one of the reasons that the club stayed in the league.
The 2015-2016 season did not start promisingly either. When many Hamburger SV tickets were sold again, when things were supposed to be looking up again, they were eliminated in the first round of the DFB Cup against a team from the fourth division, FC Carl Zeiss Jena. And there were also other negative headlines that do not need to be mentioned here. The start to the Bundesliga ended with a heavy defeat at the German champions. Now things can only look up. Fans simply have to buy HSV tickets at a reasonable price, as the club urgently needs to be supported if it is not to fall back into the basement of the table.
Better times will come at some point, but patience is required. And especially in difficult phases, the club must be supported. The atmosphere in the Volkspark stadium is first-class, there’s no question about that. If you want to support HSV as a fan, the dinosaur of the first Bundesliga and the only founding member that should not be relegated in the future, you simply have to experience more than just one game in this arena. There should be several.
It’s great that the arena has its original name again. A name that is associated with many fond memories and, above all, successes. The somewhat impatiently honest clock that shows how long Hamburger SV has been playing in the Bundesliga is a sight to behold. But it would be best if it were abolished, as it is too much in the spotlight in times of weakness. Of course, some people in Hamburg would be happy if, like at the beginning of 2010, at least mid-table was a realistic place to be, to put it that way. But things have always gone downhill and there is a danger that the season will once again be dominated by the fight against relegation.
Hamburger SV has a lot of debt, which is one of the reasons why HSV tickets have to be bought by supporters. We can only hope that after individual successes, which will of course come, the club will not immediately strive for higher things again. It is a season of consolidation, as it is officially called. Some well-known names have left the club and that’s a good thing. They represented bad times. New, young talents have arrived. They need time. Coach Bruno Labbadia should also be given time, because one of the main reasons for the problems of this great club was that the wrong decisions were constantly being made. This applies above all to the incredibly frequent changes of coach.
Anyone who mentions a specific number at this point could already be making a mistake, because who knows when the aforementioned coach will have to go? Because if the successes don’t come, there will be unrest again. So it’s time to support the team – with HSV tickets. HSV tickets for home games and Hamburger SV tickets for away games can be compared at our site at favourable prices. Demand is unchanged, especially for matches in the home arena, which is now called the Volksparkstadion again. In terms of season tickets, Hamburger SV is even in the top 5 in the entire league, which is truly remarkable. Despite a capacity of 57,000 people, HSV tickets are often sold out quickly. A decision to buy Hamburger SV tickets and HSV tickets in general should therefore be made early.
