With the 2025 promotion, the rush to the Volksparkstadion is immense and the HSV stadium has lost none of its flair. At every home match, tens of thousands of fans flock to the Hamburg arena to loudly support their favourite club.

Current Volksparkstadion tickets

It wasn’t so long ago that HSV won promotion back to the Bundesliga. Fan love has been unbroken since the sporting success. The demand for HSV tickets is high and the Volksparkstadion is often sold out.

Whether it’s the 1st Bundesliga or the DFB Cup, you have to be as quick as possible to buy tickets when Hamburg Sportverein is playing in its own stadium. Tickets are currently still available for these matches:

Ticket information for the HSV stadium

With exactly 57,000 seats, the Volksparkstadion in Hamburg is one of the largest stadiums in the 1st Bundesliga. Only Schalke and Hertha match in front of an even larger crowd. Despite the large capacity, the rush for tickets for Hamburger SV is enormous. Many matches are sold out and the northern derbies in particular are also very popular in the 1st Bundesliga.

You can take part in the pre-sale from the comfort of your own home via the HSV website. The sales phase is divided into several stages. Firstly, only season ticket holders and club members have the opportunity to secure additional tickets. Only in the second stage will tickets go on sale to the general public.

If you are unable to come to the HSV stadium after all, the tickets will be refunded at the full purchase price. According to the club, however, it can take up to 28 days for the money to be back in your account.

At home matches in Hamburg’s Volksparkstadion, you can choose between one of the 47,000 seats and 10,000 standing places. The HanseMerkur family block is particularly suitable for younger visitors. Admission is granted to children up to the age of 14 and a maximum of two accompanying adults. As a special memento, there is also a free souvenir photo with Dino Hermann.

Things are a little wilder in the north stand of the HSV stadium. The best atmosphere is guaranteed in the fan blocks. Here you can express your love for the club without any restrictions. But be aware that there are some unwritten rules in the blocks.

The guest block in the Volksparkstadion is located in the curve between the south and west stands. Sectors 14A and 14B are reserved for away fans. The best view of the match is from the lower tier of the east or west stand. However, this is also where tickets for the HSV stadium are most expensive.

Stadium tour and events at Volksparkstadion: an overview

The Volksparkstadion is an absolute magnet for visitors even when HSV is not on the pitch. Several public tours of the arena are offered every day. This gives HSV fans and soccer fans the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes.

You should definitely book a stadium tour online in advance. Otherwise, tickets may no longer be available. You can book directly via the HSV website. The price for an adult is currently 14 euros.

The tours always start at 12:00, 14:00 and 16:00. From November to February, the last date is cancelled, as twilight sets in during the winter. The ticket price also includes a visit to the HSV Museum.

In addition to the stands and press areas, the tour also takes you through the VIP areas of the Volksparkstadion. You will also experience the bus hall, the mixed zone and the guest cabin. As the grand finale, you can walk through the players’ tunnel onto the pitch with the opening anthem “HSV forever”.

But Hamburg’s Volksparkstadion doesn’t just open its doors for soccer. Comedians and bands also perform at the HSV stadium from time to time.

Visitor information for the Volksparkstadion

On home match days, you can visit the Volksparkstadion two hours before kick-off. This is when the stands and VIP areas open. Only bags or rucksacks up to the size of DIN A4 are permitted in the Volksparkstadion. Larger bags or rucksacks must be handed in at the appropriate storage points.

There are around 100 barrier-free seats in the HSV stadium. The easiest way to get into the arena is via the wheelchair ramps in the south stand. Fans in wheelchairs can only purchase tickets via the hotline. The price is 12 euros including accompanying person.

There are also 30 seats available in the East Stand in Block 3C for people with visual impairments. A tactile guidance system will take fans from the north-east entrance to the appropriate block. Tickets can also only be purchased via the hotline. Fans will be equipped with headphones and can follow the match via a live commentary.

Deaf fans will also get their money’s worth at the HSV stadium. A total of 20 seats in block 12B are available as close as possible to the touchline.

VIP tickets for the HSV stadium

With VIP tickets, your visit to the Volksparkstadion will be a unique experience. HSV only has one large VIP area, for which you can simply purchase tickets in the online shop. The price is around 460 euros per person.

The way into the Volksparkstadion leads you through a separate VIP entrance. This allows you to avoid the crowds and get into the matchday mood in comfort. There are two hospitality areas on the east and west stands. The lounges open two hours before kick-off. Here you will be spoilt with hot and cold snacks, drinks and a comprehensive buffet.

If you want to experience an unforgettable spectacle, you can also opt for an entire VIP package. In addition to the business seats for a home match of your choice, this also includes an overnight stay at the 5* Grand Elysée Hamburg. You will also receive a free HSV scarf and can visit the museum before the start of the match.

Interesting facts about the Volksparkstadion

The Volksparkstadion is the largest football arena in Hamburg and has been home to the Hamburg sports club since its opening in 1953. After the first construction phase, the HSV stadium had a total capacity of 76,000 fans and was the largest football stadium in the Federal Republic of Germany at the time. Only the stadium in Berlin, then East Germany, was even bigger.

The first remodelling took place before the 1974 World Cup, when a covered stand was built on the back straight, leaving only 61,300 seats available. However, the Volksparkstadion did not exist in its current form until the year 2000. It was not until around 25 years ago that the stadium was extensively renovated again.

Since then, Hamburger SV’s stadium has had a much better acoustic atmosphere due to the structural changes. Due to its size, the Volksparkstadion was also one of the venues during the 2006 World Cup and will of course once again provide a great atmosphere during the home European Championships in 2024.

In 2010, the Volksparkstadion hosted the Europa League final. In the 2023/24 season, there was even a Champions League feeling once again. The Ukrainian team Shakhtar Donetsk was allowed to travel to Hamburg for the international clashes.

In addition to footballing highlights, four German athletics championships have also been held at the Volksparkstadion in the past. Although the Volksparkstadion is now purely a football arena, concerts are still held here.

How to get to the Volksparkstadion in Hamburg

You can reach the Volksparkstadion in Hamburg relatively easily by car via the A7 motorway. The only problem is that there are not enough parking spaces on site to accommodate all fans with their own cars.

The “Red” and “Grey” car parks are open to fans on match days. A car park ticket costs 9 euros. You can reach the Volksparkstadion on foot in 5 minutes. Alternatively, you can also stop at the “Grün” car park. From here it is 15 minutes to the arena. The “White” and “Yellow” car parks are only available to VIP guests and people with a disabled badge.

Alternatively, you can of course also use public transport to get to the HSV stadium. Your ticket is also valid as a ticket for all means of transport in the Hamburg public transport network. Shuttle buses run from Stellingen and Othmarschen S-Bahn stations directly to the Volksparkstadion on match days.

From Hamburg main station, you can take the S5 to Stellingen station and then take the shuttle bus to Volksparkstadion. Alternatively, you can also take the U2 underground line and bus route 22.
