How do I get BVB tickets?

So you’re looking for tickets for Borussia Dortmund and don’t really know what options are available? Is the rumour that season tickets are inherited true? Here you can find out how to get tickets quickly.

There is also a pre-sale for non-members. This usually starts around 4-6 weeks before the start of the match. You can order your tickets in the morning at around 08:30. You can do this either by calling the BVB call centre (Tel. 01805-309000) or in the BVB online shop. This is the easiest way to order tickets. You can also buy tickets cheaply at the BVB-Fanwelt ticket counter, which is located at Signal Iduna Park.

The order quantity of tickets for home matches is limited to four tickets per fan, and only two if a top match is scheduled. There are also eight points of contact in Dortmund and one each in Hamm, Münster, Oberhausen, Essen, Büren, Kassel, Lippstadt and Ochtrup. So your chances of getting tickets are not completely hopeless.

Advance ticket sales for BVB matches: For members only

The stadium is sold out for almost every home match. Therefore, it is usually quite difficult for non-members to get tickets for BVB matches. The availability of tickets for European Cup matches is even lower. BVB also differentiates between members and non-members when selling tickets in advance. Members of the club have the opportunity to buy BVB tickets first, as they pay an annual fee.

This is €62 per year for adults and €30 per year for young people. The club will then announce on its website when the pre-sale starts. Once the pre-sale for members has ended, tickets for non-members will go on sale. So you have to be quick and lucky if you want to get some, or you can become a member of the club.

This is how the free ticket sale for BVB matches works

Once the pre-sale for Dortmund tickets has ended, the free sale for non-members begins. How many tickets are then available depends on two factors: how many of them were sold to members in advance and how many the visiting club returns to BVB. The opposing team always receives a fixed proportion of tickets. The quota is usually around 10% of the total number of tickets.

Unfortunately, you won’t have any luck selling tickets for top matches on the open market. This is because BVB only sells these tickets to members of the club due to a past chaotic advance sale at the BVB Mega-Store. Unfortunately, non-members have no way of getting their hands on these highly coveted tickets.

Tickets for BVB: The secondary ticket market platform

A great alternative for you would be BVB’s secondary ticket market platform. The club set this up in spring 2017. Here you may still have the opportunity to buy tickets for Borussia Dortmund. The system behind it is relatively simple. If a holder of a day ticket or season ticket is unable to attend on the day of the home match, they can then legally and easily offer their ticket to someone else.

The owner’s ticket will be blocked for the match in question and made available on the secondary market platform. You can then purchase these tickets as normal in the BVB ticket shop. However, this is not the case for every match. The secondary market platform is only opened when there are very few or no more tickets available for the corresponding match from the free sale.

BVB tickets via ticket exchanges – Viagogo or Stubhub

If all else fails, you are welcome to try other ticket platforms. With providers such as Viagogo, Stubhub, Sportsevents365 etc. you can also get tickets for almost all matches. You can almost always get tickets here. However, you should make sure that you don’t buy your tickets at too high a price on these platforms. You should not necessarily go over your financial limit for a match.

These tickets in particular are highly coveted at BVB. During the season, 55,000 of the 81,359 seats are allocated to season ticket holders alone. Season tickets are allocated annually and are renewed for the following season if they have not been cancelled. However, the annual cancellation rate for season tickets is rather low.

If you want to apply for a season ticket, you will be put on a waiting list. However, this is so long that you can expect to only get this coveted ticket after around 10 years. So you will need a lot of patience if you don’t have a personal relationship with the club. It is speculated that the length of the waiting list is around 30,000 fans.

However, there are also exceptions. If fans have attended a match in the stadium less than seven times in a season, BVB will withdraw their season ticket. They are then passed on to fans who are on the waiting list.

How do I get tickets for away matches?

You can get day tickets for BVB away matches via the ticket hotline 01805-309000 or at one of the away ticket agencies. Here, too, members enjoy advantages. They will receive their away tickets approximately one to two working days before the official pre-sale starts. When this starts depends on the visiting club. When BVB has the tickets available, this will be announced on their homepage. Normally, advance ticket sales for away matches also take place four weeks before the start of the match.

BVB has also made around 400 away season tickets available for fans who attend all of the club’s away matches. They receive tickets for each away match, which they must pay for in advance. Registered BVB fan clubs also benefit. How exactly the tickets are distributed to the fan clubs is decided by the BVB fan support department.

How much do tickets cost in the individual stands?

The former Dortmund Westfalenstadion was renamed Signal Iduna Park in 2005 and is the largest stadium in Germany and also the home of Borussia Dortmund. The stadium is divided into four different stands. The east and west stands as well as the south and north stands. The latter is located directly on the street and is partly used for guests.

The cost of individual tickets varies depending on the category. A so-called top surcharge of 20% is added for top matches. Special features: Since the 2005/2006 season, visiting fans have been banned from entering the south stand and the south-east and south-west corners. Is there a family block?

Yes, there is. It’s called the REWE family block and is located in the north/west corner of the stadium. With around 1,500 seats, the football experience in Block 64 and Block 65 is very special for KidsClub members. The ticket prices are not only family-friendly, but families with children can also enjoy goal wall shooting, a climbing wall and fan face painting.

Furthermore, mascot Emma surprises the children again and again with appearances and activities. You can also look forward to delicious and special catering. The food and drinks are of course suitable for children. Please note that smoking is prohibited in the entire REWE family block. BVB KidsClub members enjoy advance purchase rights on tickets for the family block.

How big is the guest block?

The guest block extends between blocks 60 and 61 and is located in the lower tier of the north stand. It is standing room only. On the other hand, it extends between blocks 55 and 56 and can be found in the north-east corner. If guest fans arrive in small groups, they will be redirected to the standing/seated areas in the north-east corner at the standing price. In this case, blocks 60 and 61 will be occupied by BVB fans.

How child-friendly is the stadium?

You will also need an admission ticket for your child, as unfortunately no-one can enter Signal Iduna Park without a valid admission ticket. For insurance reasons, children’s tickets of €1.00 are issued at clearing centres. This is only valid for children up to the age of six and does not entitle them to a seat. Adults are permitted to hold children on their laps.

Please remember that the age of the child must be proven. With this card, access to the standing area is prohibited. At the end of the season, all proceeds from the children’s counting cards will be donated to charity.

Is a stadium tour possible?

Yes, that is possible. You can book a private stadium tour at Signal Iduna Park. It doesn’t matter whether you want to go on the tour with family, colleagues or friends, you will be given a personal guide who will pass on all the important information, anecdotes and specialist knowledge about BVB with excitement, charm, passion and humour. He will also show you all the important places in the stadium.

You also have the option of booking extras such as drinks and food to make the tour a complete experience. The tour lasts 120 minutes and is a must for every BVB fan. Additional highlights can be heard in German and English via an audio guide. The price includes headphones, a certificate (free of charge) and an audio guide. A flat rate is charged for groups of up to 15 people.

Some more important information:

The overnight stay takes place on the day of the match. If you would like to book two overnight stays, these are valid from Friday to Sunday inclusive, for three overnight stays until Monday. You can pick up your tickets at the hotel reception. If you have booked several seats, these will be allocated next to each other and in pairs.

Or you can book directly on the BVB website. There are two packages available for your adrenaline trip. Either two nights in a two- or three-star hotel including BVB ticket for category 5 for a home match, or two nights in a three- to four-star hotel including BVB ticket for category 3. Breakfast is included in both bookings.

You will also receive a fan shop voucher, a BVB scarf, admission to the Borusseum, a stadium cover including credit for snacks and drinks and the stadium magazine. The trips can be booked from €209 per person. In addition to a good match in a breathtaking atmosphere, Dortmund offers you even more. 5 tips on how to get cheap BVB tickets

If you want to attend a BVB home match live, here are five useful tips that will give you a chance of getting a ticket even though the match is already sold out. Because getting hold of these coveted tickets is by no means easy.

1. Use advance booking offices or the shop

You can first try the well-known advance booking offices in Dortmund in person or in their online shops. These usually have their own contingent. The other option would be to go to the BVB call centre or online shop.

2. Wait for returns

If you visit the BVB ticket shop often, you might occasionally be lucky enough to get returns. This happens when the visiting team has taken fewer tickets than they had available.

3. Join Facebook groups

If you don’t already know, you can also try Facebook. There are now several Facebook groups that sell tickets to other fans at the original price. Please be careful when buying through such a group and be sure that you are dealing with a reputable seller.

4. Matches during the week

For many cup matches, most season ticket holders have not used their option. One of the reasons for this is that many matches take place in the evening and can finish relatively late. This means that people who don’t live in Dortmund are less likely to go. You might even be lucky enough to get tickets for the South Stand.

5. Use your own network

If you happen to live in Dortmund, you could also ask around in your circle of friends or acquaintances to see if anyone there has a season ticket and whether they could lend it to you for a match if they are unable to attend.

The club as a ticket option

As the demand for BVB tickets is very high, the supply of freely available tickets is unfortunately always very limited. For this reason, the supply is always smaller than the demand. But there is also a positive side to this. The fans and the club can be proud that there is such a high demand. The club has the following advance booking practices for you:

The hotline, which you can call at the start of the presale, offers 500 free lines. This makes it possible to process 500 requests or enquiries at the same time. When top matches are scheduled, as many as 300,000 fans dial in per day. That’s why the hotline is often busy. Once one of the 500 booking enquiries has been processed, the next line is immediately reactivated. The club apologises for the frequent dial-in backlog caused by the large number of requests.

BVB will continue to favour BVB fan clubs this season. For home and away matches, fan clubs will be informed 48 hours before the start of the pre-sale for members about the respective contingent available to the clubs. However, tickets for matches that are not sold out will still be available at the stadium box offices. These open 4.5 hours before the start of the match.

Tickets for the BVB Christmas carol concert

BVB has now organised the Christmas carol service three times. The fans are supported by a whole host of celebrities. Christmas stories are told between the singing. Heiko Wasser and Norbert Dickel will guide the fans through the programme. Of course, BVB stars will also be there. Tickets for the Christmas sing-along are also very popular and sell out very quickly. You also have to be quick here and there is no box office. You can get BVB tickets at all known advance booking offices or at eventimsports.

BVB had already increased the number of tickets, although 50,000 seats were made available last year. The event starts at 16:30, admission is at 14:30. As with a football match, the programme has two halves of 45 minutes each. The interval is 20 minutes long. WDR has broadcast a special programme for fans who were unable to buy tickets.

The entrance fees collected will be donated to a good cause. The proceeds will go to social and community projects. The money will be distributed by the Lensing Media aid organisation of the BVB foundation “Leuchtet auf”.
