Imagine you’re looking forward to the next match day and know your ticket is ready to hand, but suddenly it’s gone. For some reason it has gone missing, perhaps while you were tidying up or even on the way to the football stadium. A horror scenario for every football fan, because without a valid ticket, admission to the stadium is a long way off.
What can you do if you have lost your legally purchased football ticket to perhaps still get into the stadium? We have a look at your options and give you valuable tips to help you salvage this hopeless situation for the better.
Measure no. 1: Search thoroughly for the football ticket again!
It sounds so simple, but sometimes it really helps if you turn your flat upside down and look in every drawer to see if the football ticket isn’t hiding somewhere else. Stressful everyday situations can mean that you have accidentally put the ticket away and not paid attention to which pile of paper the football card has ended up under.
Think about where you last saw the ticket and reconstruct the route it took to ideally find it. If all the searches don’t help and even the sniffer dogs have been unsuccessful, then the football ticket has probably disappeared completely, perhaps even ended up in the bin unintentionally. It is then up to you to tackle the options in order to pave your way into the football stadium.
The ticket for the next football match is gone: what can you do?
We can understand that your pulse is probably racing, because a football ticket can sometimes cost a three-figure sum of money, depending on the category, and so a missing ticket not only means missing a football match, but also a financial loss. But you may still be able to salvage the situation, as there are a few approaches you should take to get into the stadium despite a missing ticket:
- You can call the ticket hotline or send an e-mail to customer service to find out what options are available to you.
- Find the ticket invoice and go to the stadium anyway, where you can ask at the ticket office for a replacement ticket, which, if you’re lucky, will incur a service charge.
- If it was a cheap ticket that cost €20 to €30, for example, order a replacement in good time – even if it’s a bittersweet alternative!
Can I request a replacement for a lost football ticket?
Basically no, because if you have lost your football ticket through your own fault: tough luck! But there are exceptions, because some football clubs show their closeness to the fans and don’t want to leave them standing alone in these exceptional cases. That’s why you need to pick up your smartphone and call these centres, for example:
- Official ticket hotline of the club
- Ticket exchange customer service
- Fan club that sold the ticket
Depending on where you bought the football ticket, there are contact points where you can seek help to resolve your difficult situation with the lost ticket for the football match. Find out from your contact person whether it is possible for you to request a replacement ticket and, if so, what steps you need to take to get closer to your day at the football stadium after all.
Football ticket has gone missing in the post – what to do?
Now we come to a completely different reason why the ticket has disappeared and this can already be found during dispatch. It can of course happen that an envelope gets lost and with it the ticket you bought for your favourite football match. In this case, contact the sender or seller of the football ticket directly and tell them about your problem.
In the case of insured dispatch, a solution in the form of a replacement is quickly found, but if the ticket dispatch was not insured, you will have to clarify which solution to take. At least in this case you have a fixed contact person and don’t have to think long about who to contact to complain about the lost ticket. And the best thing is: the disappearance wasn’t your fault!
Lost ticket: the football club’s FAQs can help

It is therefore worth having a closer look at the FAQ section of the club whose match you bought a ticket for but unfortunately lost. You may find an official answer here as to what options are available for you to get a replacement ticket for the football match and have a great day at the stadium.
