Real Madrid Club de Fútbol, or Real Madrid for short – this name is synonymous with the very best football in Europe and the world. Synonyms of superlatives are used time and again. The royals, the white ballet, the galactics and many more show what great moments Real Madrid matches promise. It is both the stars and the club itself that captivate fans all over the world.

How do I get tickets for Real Madrid?
With over 80,000 seats, Real Madrid’s stadium has plenty of capacity for spectators. In fact, games have not always been sold out recently. Even in the Champions League, there have often been a few seats available. However, if you want to experience a top match or, for example, want several seats together, you will definitely have to be lucky here.
The first port of call is the Real Madrid club website and their ticket shop. Ticket information for all upcoming matches can be found online, with most of the website also available in German. When buying tickets, however, this is only the case to a limited extent – here you have to pay attention to the word “venta”, which means “sale”.
Apart from that, there are always many different offers for Real Madrid tickets on ticket exchanges on the secondary market. There is an enormous price range here, with games with high demand also resulting in higher ticket prices. For the best seats at the Santiago Bernabéu, however, it is definitely worth taking a look at Viagogo and similar providers – more on this below.
Away tickets for Real Madrid
If you’re a Real Madrid fan in this country and want to be part of the community for once, Real Madrid’s away games in Germany are the perfect opportunity. In the group stage of the 2023/2024 Champions League, for example, this applies to the clash against Union Berlin. However, as limited as the capacity of the guest areas is, so too are the chances of getting away tickets for Real.
In principle, interested parties can also buy these tickets directly from Real Madrid. Unfortunately, the club only offers them to official fan clubs and so-called Socios (members of the club with voting rights). However, there are a large number of fan clubs, including in Germany. If you make a connection in this way, you may be able to get a ticket for yourself.
How much do Real Madrid tickets cost?
As popular as tickets for Real Madrid are, the prices are naturally just as high. While the Bundesliga in Germany has a largely inexpensive policy, tickets in La Liga are generally rather expensive. In the case of Real, this means average ticket prices from €50 for full payers, with most ticket categories being more expensive.
Depending on the match and seat in the stadium, the price can be well over a hundred euros. It should be noted that these prices apply to official ticket sales by the club. On other channels such as the secondary market, however, it is not uncommon for top matches in national and international competitions to cost several hundred euros. Experience has shown that the ticket price (and demand) are decisive:
- Opponents and competition
- Significance of the match (e.g. league match in La Liga or semi-final in the Champions League)
- Date of the game (during the week or at the weekend)
- exact time (from afternoon to late evening)
The cheapest tickets for Real Madrid
In a few cases, discounted tickets are also available for around 30 euros. However, the contingent is always very limited and quickly exhausted. To buy a discounted ticket for Real Madrid, speed is of the essence. If you simply want to have the cheapest possible stadium experience in Madrid, you can use the match schedule as a guide:
The cheaper football tickets are available for matches against rather smaller opponents such as Granada CF or UD Almería. This also applies to games that take place during the week. There may be less demand for tickets on these occasions, meaning that there is also more room to choose seats.
Football holidays are also becoming increasingly popular. These are sometimes advertised with inexpensive football tickets. It should be noted that these football trips usually include other events in addition to a match and that hotel stays, flights and more are also paid for directly. Whether this actually means “cheap” tickets varies from person to person.
When can I buy Real Madrid tickets?
As is usual in Germany, the first step in selling tickets in advance is to wait for the dates of the individual match days. Once a match has been scheduled, around 97,000 Real Madrid fans will have the opportunity to buy a ticket around three weeks before the match day. If there are still seats available afterwards, advance ticket sales are open to madridistas (non-voting club members).
Only at the very end, i.e. a few days before the match, are any remaining tickets for the general public put on sale and then sell out more or less quickly. Of course, the tens of thousands of season ticket holders who already occupy a large part of the stadium must be taken into account in all of this. Once again, however, many of them put their tickets up for sale if they do not use them on a match day – either through the club or on the secondary market.
Can you buy football tickets in Madrid?
The possibility of travelling to football matches has already been mentioned. Ticket purchasing and travel planning are generally linked anyway. If you are already in Madrid, you can also buy a ticket for a home game on the spot – provided the available allocation allows it. For example, the ticket counters at the stadium are open from 10 a.m. on match day until kick-off. These are located at Gate 44 (Area A) of the Santiago Bernabéu.
There are also “La Caixa” ATMs throughout Madrid, where you can actually buy tickets for various events depending on availability – including Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid football matches.
What we absolutely do not recommend, however, is buying tickets from private individuals outside the stadium on match day. Time and again, supposedly great and cheap tickets are offered there because one ticket was allegedly bought too many or something similar. Very often these are counterfeit tickets.
Secondary market: tickets for Real Madrid on Viagogo and Co.

Ticket exchanges on the secondary market are also person-to-person sales. However, Viagogo, StubHub and various other providers act as intermediaries here, helping to make the transaction more secure. Advertisements on Ebay, classified adverts or on social media are to be distinguished from this. The aforementioned ticket exchanges, on the other hand, have the advantage that there is a variety of offers for tickets and prices can sometimes be compared. You should always buy:
- pay attention to the price: Slightly higher prices are always common, while the higher the price of popular games, the higher the amount.
- choose secure payment methods: In contrast to bank transfers, PayPal and similar service providers offer buyer protection.
- Check ticket information: The date and time of matches in Spain can change up to 10 days before a match, meaning that tickets purchased early may still show a different date.
- Consider the personalisation of tickets: Tickets are often issued in the name of one person, so that the validity is theoretically only valid for that person.
Are Real Madrid tickets personalised?
The personalisation of tickets is now common practice at many professional clubs. This is particularly the case for Real Madrid tickets in international competitions, but also for some league matches. However, this does not necessarily pose a problem for buyers. Personalisation changes are usually carried out by the club up to a few days before a match without any problems – in the case of digital tickets directly online.
Apart from that, personal data is rarely checked anyway, as several tens of thousands of spectators will be streaming into the stadium in a short space of time. It is therefore impossible to check all tickets and ticket holders. There is only a risk in the case of high-profile matches (such as against FC Barcelona) and home matches in the Champions League if the ticket is valid for the home section and the holder is obviously not from Spain or does not speak Spanish.
Real Madrid tickets for wheelchair users
Wheelchair users wishing to purchase a ticket for Real Madrid must submit a ticket request to the club. This is easily done online using the form on the club’s website. In this case, one accompanying person is allowed free entry per ticket holder. At the Santiago Bernabéu, the seats for fans in wheelchairs are located in the home section at the south gate and can be accessed via a separate entrance.
Thrilling matches: Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey
Real Madrid is the record winner of the Copa del Rey, the Spanish Copa del Rey. The club has won the competition 20 times to date, most recently in the 2022/23 season, when Real Madrid defeated CA Osasuna 2:1 in the final.
The Copa del Rey is a very special competition for Real Madrid fans. It is an opportunity to defeat arch-rivals Barcelona and bring the title home to Madrid. The competition is also attractive for the fans because it offers a greater chance of surprise than the Spanish championship or the Champions League.
Real Madrid have enjoyed some outstanding success in the Copa del Rey in recent years. In the 2013/14 season, for example, the club defeated Atlético Madrid in the semi-finals.
In the 2023/24 season, Real Madrid will start the Copa del Rey as defending champions. The Whites will do everything in their power to win the title again and thrill the fans.
Successes, records and passion: Real Madrid in Europe
When the Champions League anthem sounds at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, football at the highest level is guaranteed. Real Madrid is one of the top favourites to win the Champions League every year. With 14 titles to their name, the Whites have lived up to their name. No other team in Europe can even begin to match this record.
Real Madrid are still in the Champions League this season and have successfully made it through the group stage. So you still have the chance to see Toni Kroos, Vinicius Junior and co. live on the pitch in a duel with other top teams from all over Europe. However, Champions League tickets for Real Madrid are in high demand and you have to be quick to have any chance of getting tickets.
Travelling to the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu

With an impressive capacity of around 81,044 seats, the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu in Madrid offers a majestic backdrop for football fans. Here are some tips on how to get to the stadium to ensure you have a smooth start to your stadium experience:
By car: If you are travelling by car, parking is available in the area around the stadium. However, please note that parking spaces are in high demand on match days, so allow plenty of time.
By train: Madrid has an excellent public transport network, making the metro an excellent option. Lines 10 and 14 will take you directly to the stadium. The Santiago Bernabéu and Concha Espina stations are in the immediate vicinity.
By plane: If you are travelling from afar, the nearby Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport offers optimal connections. From there, you can easily get to the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu by taxi, metro or bus.
Whichever way you choose to travel, the stadium will open its doors to you for an unforgettable football experience.
