Harry Kane is one of the best players of our time. The Briton was an icon of the Tottenham Hotspur team for many years. He has now been playing for FC Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga for 1 season.
Incidentally, he will face his former club with Bayern in the upcoming pre-season. This friendly match between Tottenham Hotspur and FC Bayern Munich will certainly stir up a lot of emotions, but the test match is no indicator of Kane’s performance.
These can, however, be assessed in the current European Football Championship. And the assessment is anything but positive. England struggled to qualify for the final round of Euro 2024, with Harry Kane almost absent from all three matches.
Euro 2024: England’s path to the round of 16
England faced Serbia in their opening game of the European Championship. The Serbs put up a spirited fight for 90 minutes and presented their opponents with a challenge. The Serbian defence managed to take top striker Harry Kane completely out of the game.
The final 1:0 winning goal was scored by Jude Bellingham in the 13th minute of the match. On matchday 2 of the preliminary round, Kane scored against Denmark, but England were held to a 1-1 draw.
The final group game then remained goalless for England. Luckily for England, the team from Slovenia were not in a scoring mood either. In all 3 European Championship matches, the opposing teams were able to adapt very well to Kane’s attacking work. The team’s superstar has barely featured so far.

Why Harry Kane has yet to feature at Euro 2024
There’s no doubt about it – Harry Kane is one of the best players in professional football today. He broke one record after another at Bayern in the 2023/2024 season. Although he was unable to win any major successes with the club in the form of a title, FCB will be looking to attack again in the coming season.
However, last season showed a lot of Harry Kane’s strengths. Naturally, the scouts of the opposing teams have scrutinised these strengths of the player very closely.
In the European Championship games so far, the defences have been very successful in keeping Harry Kane under control. However, the matches in the upcoming final round of the 2024 European Football Championship in Germany are likely to be much more intense. Perhaps Kane will be able to elude his guards there and score more often.
Harry Kane: England’s superstar is in demand in the round of 16 against Slovakia
England will now face Slovakia in the round of 16 of the European Championship on 30 June 2024. The match between England and Slovakia will kick off at 18:00 in the Veltins-Arena in Gelsenkirchen. There is no question that England will be reliant on Harry Kane in top form.
Of course, the team has other top talents in its ranks, but a Harry Kane at his peak will certainly be able to realise a potential place in the European Championship quarter-finals.
Overall, however, England are not playing as dominantly at this European Championship as many football experts believed. A title therefore once again seems a long way off for Harry Kane. Or will the European Championship trophy be there for the taking after all?
