The rush for the coveted tickets came as expected.

Alexander Steinforth, General Manager of NFL Germany, was delighted with the growing enthusiasm in the run-up to the event and expected a massive rush on the Ticketmaster ticket platform.

To get a ticket, you had to register on the website in advance. A code required for the order was sent from there. However, receiving a code was no guarantee of a ticket for the game between the Carolina Panthers and the New York Giants.

NFL Munich Game 2024: Long waiting times and high list places due to giant rush

The long wait began for the fans. After successfully registering on the ticket platform and receiving a code, fans were allocated a place on the list. This resulted in long waiting times and a lot of frustration among buyers. In some cases, over 1 million devices were registered in the queue at the same time.

This long wait caused mixed feelings among fans. Some vented their frustration on social media, while others took it with humour. One user wrote that he had been in the queue for 10 minutes and then there were only 560,000 people in front of him. He added a teary-eyed laughing emoji to this post. Another complained that he had waited three hours for nothing.

The price range of tickets for the NFL highlight in the Allianz Arena in Munich varied widely. The organiser offered tickets in 8 different categories. The cheapest ticket for young people under the age of 16 cost 41.75 euros. Fans paid 207 euros for a seat in the centre lower tier in price category 1. A maximum of 4 tickets could be purchased per buyer for the NFL game in Germany.

Resale portals cause frustration among fans

On 26 June 2024, the resale market opened for tickets that cannot or do not want to be used. Ticket holders will then have the chance to legally resell their ticket for the Carolina Panthers vs. the New York Giants. The website operator warns against purchases on unofficial resale sites. If the tickets are resold via a platform without the authorisation of the NFL, this constitutes a breach of the terms and conditions of sale.

The tickets are sold on the portals for extortionate prices. If this ticket is returned, there is a risk of being stuck with the costs. One user compared the prices on the resale markets with a flight to the USA followed by a visit to the stadium. Some users are calling for the introduction of personalised tickets to prevent resale at extortionate prices.
