developed into an absolute top club. In Spain, the club now even rivals FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, making the championship a three-way battle almost every year. This was last won in 2021, although this is just one of the many national and international trophies from recent years.
The club’s successful history as well as its current image captivates fans in Spain and around the world. The club has over 137,000 members and its own stadium is always full. If you want to see “Los Rojiblancos” and stars like Antoine Griezmann play live and up close, you should secure the best seats in the legendary Estadio Metropolitano – which is not always easy.

Ticket prices are updated regularly, Status: 25.01.2026
The Wanda Metropolitano, as the stadium is also known, is a pure football stadium after its renovation and a true temple. With exactly 70,460 seats, it is the third largest stadium in Spain. In principle, there is therefore a huge capacity, but most of it is always used up quickly. In the 2022/2023 season, Atlético had an average attendance of around 56,000 spectators per game and the figure for the 2023/2024 season is already over 61,000 after the first few match days.
So if you want to buy tickets for Atlético Madrid and are looking for good seats, you sometimes have to be quick. The direct route for fans from Germany is via the Madrid website and its online shop. There you can easily select the exact seats in the stadium from those still available.
It is important to know that once tickets have been purchased, they can no longer be returned (or changed in any other way). For this reason in particular, experience has shown that numerous tickets regularly end up on the secondary market, i.e. on ticket exchanges such as Viagogo. This is a good opportunity for fans to get their hands on tickets that may be in particularly high demand.
This applies not least to games that are already sold out or those that are very popular, such as the “Derbi madrileno” against local rivals Real Madrid. So it’s always worth taking a look at the secondary market.
What fans know from the Bundesliga is unusual in Spain: cheap standing room. All La Liga stadiums only offer seats and the price level for La Liga tickets is generally higher than in this country. However, tickets for Atlético Madrid are slightly cheaper than those for their direct rivals Real Madrid and FC Barcelona.
Nevertheless, ticket prices generally start at 30 euros, with this price applying to the top and outermost seats. If you want to sit close to the lines on the edge of the pitch, you are more likely to pay 80, 90 or even well over 100 euros – the closer to the centre and further forward the seats, the more you pay. It should be noted that these prices can be even higher for special fixtures and at the end of the league championship match.
As already mentioned, ticket prices in the Spanish league are generally higher than in Germany, for example. Atlético Madrid tickets for 30 euros are a big exception, but also only available to a limited extent. Unless they are for the best seats in the Wanda Metropolitano, those interested can often stay under 50 euros.
If you are otherwise looking for the absolute cheapest football tickets, you should choose matches against smaller opponents. Getafe, Almeria or Granada are examples of this – as are, of course, the respective promoted teams and newcomers in a season.
Incidentally, more and more fans are interested in so-called football holidays. As a popular holiday destination and football country, Spain in particular offers certain opportunities. These football trips are advertised with, among other things, cheap football tickets, although hotel accommodation and other extras can cost even more.
It is also worth bearing in mind that these trips are early package deals and it is not always certain which football match is involved – especially as dates for matches in Spain can change at short notice.
Another possibility to get tickets for Atlético Madrid are the away games. The smaller La Liga clubs mentioned above are a particularly sensible option. However, it is worth bearing in mind that these clubs generally also have smaller capacities in their stadiums, meaning that the ticket contingents are correspondingly lower.
Nonetheless, fewer visiting fans are expected for other away trips by the Rojiblancos, such as against Celta Vigo, Athletic Bilbao or CA Osasuna. In these cases, free tickets are therefore more likely to be available.
Apart from that, the secondary market once again offers some opportunities for cheap tickets for Atlético Madrid’s away games – both for the guest area and the home area of the respective opponent.
The processes surrounding the sale of tickets in Spain are similar to those in Germany. Once the league management has decided on the fixtures, the sales phases can begin. They usually start 3 to 5 weeks before a match, in rare cases even earlier.
The majority of the more than 70,000 tickets for the Wanda Metropolitano are initially sold to club members and season ticket holders. This is followed by the free sale, which experience has shown only affects a few thousand remaining tickets. Incidentally, at most clubs in Spain, children aged 0 and over also need a regular ticket if they are to be admitted to the stadium.
As Atlético Madrid tickets cannot be returned, the first tickets can often be found on the secondary market as soon as the first sales phase begins. Of course, there are also many people who deliberately take advantage of this option, resulting in corresponding price mark-ups.
The online shop on the club’s website is the most convenient option for obtaining tickets directly. If you want to buy tickets directly in the city of Madrid, there are various places to go:
The ticket office at the Estadio Metropolitano is open every working day and may also offer remaining tickets on match days. There are also a total of 5 different fan stores in the city – however, only the main shop, which is also located directly at the stadium and is open every day, is definitely open for ticket sales.

While in the Bundesliga the fixtures are usually scheduled early and fixed, in Spain the exact weekdays and times for fixtures can still change up to 10 days before a match. This mainly affects clubs that are represented in several competitions, including Atlético Madrid. If ticket buyers are unable to attend a rescheduled match at short notice, they can offer their tickets on the secondary market.
Ticket exchanges such as Viagogo or StubHub are therefore a highly frequented marketplace for tickets. Buying tickets in this way is absolutely legal and generally does not involve any particular risk. The decisive factor here is that interested parties pay attention to a few important aspects:
While the official ticket exchanges support a certain degree of seriousness in all of this, caution is advised with offers on social media, eBay or classified ads. In particular, interested parties should never agree to a bank transfer as a payment method.
Personalised tickets are now often used by professional clubs to restrict the sale of tickets on the secondary market. This is particularly the case in the Bundesliga in Germany and applies to most professional clubs.
At Atlético Madrid, however, tickets have so far only been personalised in a few cases, for example when it comes to international matches or controversial duels such as the derby against Real Madrid. This is therefore not a problem for other league matches.
However, if the tickets are actually personalised, this does not necessarily mean that they cannot be purchased on the secondary market. On the one hand, it is possible to transfer the data if necessary and, on the other, checks on the ticket data and personal details of the ticket holder are extremely rare – after all, more than 70,000 tickets and visitors to the Wanda Metropolitano would have to be checked on a match day.
Like all professional clubs, Atlético Madrid also offers tickets for wheelchair users and other people with disabilities. However, they do not buy their tickets in the usual way online or at the official ticket agencies. Instead, interested parties contact the club directly and apply for the ticket using a form – the email address can be found on the club’s website.
Atletico Madrid are usually overshadowed by their top rivals in the Copa del Rey. However, the Spanish cup has already been won 10 times in the club’s history. The last coup came during the 2012/13 season and is still fondly remembered by all fans. Anything is possible in the exciting duels in the Copa del Rey. Derbies against Real Madrid and the clash with FC Barcelona add to the excitement.
Atletico Madrid fans eagerly await the cup matches every season. When the ball rolls into the Wanda Metropolitano, another title is within reach. It’s not just the players who are electrified. The fans in the stadium create an unrivalled atmosphere and give their all for 90 minutes to reach the next round together with their team.
In the 2023/24 season, Real Madrid will start the Copa del Rey as defending champions. The Whites will do everything in their power to win the title again and thrill the fans.
Every year, the entire club goes into international business with great expectations. Atletico Madrid has been a regular in the Champions League for 10 years now and is one of the club’s extended circle of champions. They have already reached the final twice – but Diego Simeone’s team has always been defeated by arch-rivals Real in the end.
Atletico Madrid have also made five appearances in the Europa League. These five appearances have resulted in three victories and important international titles for the club. However, the focus is still on achieving the unbelievable and winning the Champions League. All the fans, all the players and the entire club are eager to claim their first victory in the top flight.
If Atletico Madrid is your favourite club, you can’t miss a Champions League match. Get tickets for the premier class and experience a goosebump atmosphere in the midst of euphoric fans.
