How do you get tickets for Ajax Amsterdam?

You can buy Ajax tickets regularly via the club’s online shop. Here you will find all games for which tickets are still available. Online sales are available 24 hours a day and of course also from Germany. This means you can easily plan your football trip to the Netherlands in advance.

If home matches are sold out, you also have the option of using the official secondary market. Season ticket holders can offer their tickets for sale here if they are unable to come to the Johan-Cruyff-Arena.

However, caution is advised on the unofficial secondary market. The black market is made up of private sales via social media and third-party sellers.

The Ajax Amsterdam primary market as an official option

If you want to buy tickets for Ajax, the primary market should always be your first port of call. Visit the club’s website and you will see all the matches that are already on sale. In order to participate in the pre-sale yourself, you need to register for free. All you need is a valid e-mail address.

However, in most cases you will not be able to take part in the pre-sale. Over 45,000 seats have already been reserved via the season tickets. The 10,000 additional tickets will then go on closed sale before all other fans can help themselves. In addition
there are only a few matches where access to ticket sales without a Clubcard is permitted at all.

However, you can register for membership of the fan association via Ajaxlife.nl. The advantage of this is that you have priority access to pre-sales, which increases your chances of being able to attend a match live. If you are authorised to purchase tickets, you will then receive your Ajax tickets by e-mail.

Local advance sales in Amsterdam are usually only available to members and season ticket holders. You usually have no chance of getting hold of remaining tickets at the box office either. Almost all home games are sold out to the last seat.

The secondary market for Ajax tickets: What you need to know

Ajax Amsterdam Ticket Viagogo

No other football club in the Netherlands has such a high demand for tickets as Ajax Amsterdam. However, as only 10,000 tickets go on pre-sale, the secondary market is often the only way for casual fans to be there live. Ajax operates an official resale platform where season ticket holders can convert their tickets into day tickets.

Of course, a fair pricing policy applies and you can be sure that your name will end up on the tickets for Ajax Amsterdam. This is particularly important because there are strict controls at the entrance.

Due to the limited availability, the black market also regularly flourishes. This is mainly the case for top matches in the Eredivisie and Ajax’s international clashes. Here you will always come across dubious offers from social media. Third-party providers also get involved and try to sell overpriced Ajax Amsterdam tickets.

4 important points to consider on the Ajax Amsterdam secondary market:

  • Sales platform: There is an official Ajax secondary market. The ticket exchange is activated before every match. We recommend buying tickets exclusively via the club’s official platform.
  • Ticket price: If you buy tickets via the official secondary market, there are no additional costs. However, Ajax Amsterdam tickets regularly reach record prices on third-party platforms. However, you should steer clear of overpriced tickets. This usually increases the risk of fraud.
  • Authenticity: Always check the authenticity of tickets on the unofficial secondary market. This also applies to “official resellers” who have allegedly secured a contingent from the club. Of course, you can only purchase genuine tickets on the official secondary market.
  • Ticket conditions: Admission to the stadium is only possible with a valid ticket. As a rule, tickets are personalised. Your name must therefore be on the ticket to gain access to the arena.

We work with the following providers on the secondary market:

Day ticket or season ticket – what types of tickets are available at Ajax Amsterdam?

Ajax sells 45,000 season tickets per season. At first glance, that sounds like a lot – after all, the Johan Cruyff Arena only has just over 55,000 seats. Nevertheless, demand is so high that there is a waiting list. If you want a season ticket for Ajax, you often have to wait several seasons to move up the list. Day tickets, on the other hand, can be bought with a paid membership of the club or via the secondary market. As a casual fan, you won’t stand much of a chance in normal sales.

All 55,800 seats in the stadium are exclusively seated. The Johan-Cruyff-Arena is divided into an upper and lower tier. On the two long sides parallel to the pitch, you have the best view of the pitch. This is only topped by the “field seats”, which are located directly in the front rows and give you the feeling of being on the pitch yourself.

If you don’t want to spend too much money, you can opt for a seat on the short sides behind the goals. Incidentally, we recommend a seat in the upper tier, as the view is slightly better from there. Sectors 424 and 425 in the upper tier of the curve are specially designed for families. A maximum of two adults per child are allowed in the sector.

Ajax ticket pricing: a brief overview

The prices for Ajax Amsterdam tickets are almost a well-kept secret because hardly any games go on sale. Depending on the seat, however, you can expect to pay between 50 and 120 euros. For the best seats in the stadium, however, a ticket can cost well over 150 euros. This is comparatively high, but the high demand regulates the price.

Incidentally, we do not recommend paying the prices of third-party providers. Well-known platforms always have a few tickets for sale, even for Ajax’s top home games. However, the costs are often simply far too high. As a football fan, you should never support such practices.

Season tickets for a seat in the Johan Cruyff Arena range in price from 300 to 900 euros, depending on the seat chosen.

An overview of the presale at Ajax Amsterdam

The pre-sale at Ajax Amsterdam is divided into several phases, which is why you as a casual fan will hardly have the chance to buy Ajax tickets via the conventional sale. Firstly, the 45,000 season ticket holders have the opportunity to buy additional tickets. After that, all paying club members will be able to do so.

Only in the third sales step can you access the sale with a free Ajax account. However, as only around 10,000 tickets will be issued in advance, the chances are extremely slim.

As a “new” fan, you also often have to wait a long time for season tickets to go on sale. The crowds are huge here too, so you have to put your name on a list in advance. When you will then have the chance to get a season ticket is questionable.

VIP experience in the stadium: All about hospitality tickets at Ajax

Due to the high demand, it is currently not possible for casual fans to get VIP tickets for the Johan Cruyff Arena. However, you might be interested in a match package that also includes hotel accommodation. Fans also receive a €25 gift card for the Ajax fan shop and two free scarves from the club.

You also have the option of booking premium seats in leather seats right on the edge of the pitch. However, these sell out quickly, which is why you often need a bit of luck when booking.

Ajax Amsterdam tickets for people with disabilities

To be able to buy tickets for the Johan Cruyff Arena as a wheelchair user, you must first apply for a disabled club card. Once this has been created for you, you will have access to separate sales via your My Ajax account. You can also purchase an additional ticket for a companion if required.

The stadium has 136 seats reserved for disabled fans. The disabled platform area offers space for around 70 fans in wheelchairs. On the north and south sides, between the 1st and 2nd rings, there are 66 additional seats. Ajax also offers a very special service for blind fans in its own stadium.

Travelling to the Johan-Cruyff-Arena

Ajax Amsterdam Arena Johan Cruyff Arena Location

The Johan-Cruyff-Arena is the largest stadium in the Netherlands and will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2026. The stadium is equipped with a closable roof and can accommodate over 55,000 guests. Ajax’s home stadium has already hosted matches in the 2000 and 2021 European Championships.

Ajax Amsterdam’s stadium is located outside the Dutch capital and is relatively easy to reach by car. To park in the underground car park, however, you must buy a parking ticket in advance in the online shop. Otherwise it will be difficult to find a parking space on site.

It may therefore be easier and cheaper if you simply travel by public transport. Bijlmer Arena station is right next to the stadium. Metro lines 50 and 54 will take you from the city centre to the Johan-Cruyff-Arena.

From the airport, you can either take bus line 300 or intercity train 3753 Venlo. Both forms of public transport will take you to the stadium in roughly the same time.
